Where we began…

Two years ago, four mountain area dance studios came together with a question; “What if our organizations worked together towards a singular vision? What could we achieve if we collectively put our minds together to find creative ways of cultivating the artistic capacity of our mountain area community?” This loose grouping of dance studios would soon become “The Mountain Area Dance Collective.”

First, they dipped their toes in by offering a ballet summer intensive program designed to combine all of their resources into one larger community to test the idea that they could be stronger together. This was a resounding success with unprecedented levels of community engagement and participation! They completed the second annual summer ballet intensive in 2022 and followed that up by launching the casting call for a community production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

The focus for this production would be on identifying and developing mountain area resources to cultivate our local artistic community. The production was an overwhelming success, selling out four weeks prior to opening night.
